It’s not really chemistry, Dylan kinda has something more like an obsession with Charlize. He really just doing whatever she says, like the uprising, he just following her lead.

yeah, it was poorly planned out. it should be expected too since the ml is affection deprived i guess? mom was sick and it seemed like he doesn't really have much friends or anyone at all
It's not really like that, while his mother was one of the few people he actually loved and respected, but because of his massive intellect, Dylan sees other people as boring, predictable. He didn't want friends because there was no one he knew that could match him in intellect, until he met Charlize. It show's it in an earlier chapter too, how he finds people predictable and bothersome.
However when he met Char, it was a game changer, because he had a peer to look up too, that could out match his own intellect. In the beginning stages of their relationship, he was curious about her, and she was trying to hook him into feeling curious enough to approach her, which he did after her sword fight with that one prince's guard guy. She wasn't trying to seduce him though, she was trying to rope him into compliance with what she wanted i.e. revenge. Dylan was charmed by her and that ended up developing into an obsession to have her.
