Honestly! People hate on the novel because JQ is “flat” or “stereotypical”. I’ve seen comments about how they dropped the book because JQ was “gossipy”. They mentioned a scene which I’m not gonna do because it spoiler. However they really stopped at a bad place because JQ just becomes more confident in himself and grows as a character!! He really is a resfrshing character!!!
Wow I really don't know about that. I've seen several comments where they say the book is boring cuz all the couple does is just lovey-dovey without no real conflicts or developments... But their loss! They like angst so much maybe, or the typical abusive lover lol..
But seriously gossipy? Lmfao! You know I literally cheered when JQ feigned fainting to gain sympathy from the emperor so the empress looked bad hahah

I really love Jun Qing, at first he looked like the typical tsundere protag you find in many historical chinese BL novel, but he was very different. Like he doesn't necessarily love JS at first and even very wary, and then quickly realised that he'll get a good life as long as JS pay attention to him and immediately bask in it and giving affection back instead of keeping being a tsundere... It's a very refreshing character. And his brilliant politician mind! eventho he's a protag he doesn't mind scheming cuz he understood he can't keep being blindly righteous when dealing with imperial harem lmao
