I feel like the happy ending undermines the plot

The whole idea is supposed to be that these two fell in love with the androids. They each had androids that looked like each other. The androids disappeared but they found each other and have decided to love one another. But if you you truly loved someone, I don't think that you would just get over them because you have a replacement that looks similar. Especially when the actual personality is not the same.

It makes it seem like they never really loved the android, which they have to for the story to work. And also, they didn't even give you much reason to think they LOVED these androids. Mashiro, at least, definitely was just lonely.

It also kind of hurts because I think I would have a loved a story about a cheerful rocker dude who falls for a gloomy, introverted but cute rich kid.

That is exactly what i want to talk.
If the author start the story of android ver as same personality with real ver ,that would be close to accept.
But they fall in love with completely different personality & now they have replacement they gonna forgot android LOL
