what does he owe them? he speaks as if adelha had a commitment to keep, but why start from this principle? this is something i never understood in religion :)
Also i don't mean to offend anyone by saying this: is praying really an effort that should really be rewarded? but I understand that he hates having wasted his time and false hopes, but he hates him for no valid reason since his god owes him nothing.

Religion is kinda paradoxical (and selfish in a way) bc there is this weird connection with god, when you assume first that you owe something to him (life? success? as you would for parents for example, which i totally disagree on btw) but there is a conflict where he owes you at the same time, as he created u, he must be able to help you have a good life
If god owes you nothing, then why would you pray, you know, what do you owe to him, why would you owe him more than he would ?
i also think that the whole purpose of a prayer is an effort that is made to be rewarded, if not why pray ?
it could also be seen, like it was said in the earlier chapters, as something that was made for keeping hope by thinking that someone will help you get through a tuff situation. In that situation, it could be a good thing but still, you're in a position of dependance to someone and smth that will never happen, which is kinda sad.
And finally, i just wanted to had that he has known the existence of adellah via a person that explained to him what a god is and how he acts, but even though her friend was praying and asking for help, she still died (?probably)
So seeing adellah dont care at all about anyone, makes him angry bc he grew up by believing that this god would help, so he sees adellah's non-action (for smth that should, for the boy, be his duty) as a betrayal
btw this is my opinion on this topic but i respect every religion

To sum it up with religion when you pray to god you expect to be heard and your prayers to be answered cause that’s what your told but to be honest it’s not a 100% that’s gonna happen so when your prayers aren’t answered when you commit yourself so many times you start to question if god even listened at all and that kinda what he’s saying like your told that god will help you when you’re in need if you pray to him but when your in that time and need and your prayers are never answers you feel like what you’ve been told is just a lie and in his case he was kinda relying on a false hope ig you could say

I agree with all of your opinions. In my understanding and there's someone taught me about the "Prayer", the prayer not all consist of full request from whom you praying to. But it ls a part of communication to the once you praying to, like when i was a child back then i always praying request and wishes because i do something good. And when i got to this age and knowing the fact that prayer is not for request only it is a communication that connects you with your God(oof! Im being religious here lmao). You talk to him and you say some story that you like to know, you know something like that hehehe (● ̄(エ) ̄●)
Man I hate to see the beautiful boy cry but mans was speaking mad facts tho like I really respect his reasoning
