Personally I don't hate him but I would prefer someone else to be the love interest (and endgame) for our reincarnated FL. Don't get me wrong his suspicions are valid but he too is complicit in Abigail's crimes. Balanche really had it horrible...shitty dad and shitty stepmom. He's traumatized from the first empress and it seems to have to do with touch. When Abigail consumed the nutmeg and got close to his face, he said he wanted her to back away and he seemed more terrified than anything else. It's not fair to Balanche to have to suffer with an absent father who knew of her step-mother's antics but didn't do much to stop it.
Back to my first point, our reincarnated fl doesn't deserve to constantly tread on ice and get hurt. That bunny scene rlly hurt my heart but it probably hurt her 100x more. She is a good person who was treated horribly in her past life and died from over working. She deserves a guy that will care abt her and be kind to her since day 1.

IMO it's the lack of initiative and agency. From what we know now his kingdom is stronger than Abagail's(original), so it makes since why they would welcome a political marriage. But on his side of things why even bother? More than that why not explain the type of hands off relationship you wanted from the start? Abagail didn't find out that he had no intention to even touch her until after they got married. Why even do that when he is the king of a strong country? Just lay out your terms from the jump. Now we got Abigail's family checking in to see what's up with them not dancing and wondering why there is no baby. Because of course it has to be her fault that he doesn't want to fuck. But he never had any intent to do any of that in the first place. So why did he get remarried? Abagail was horrible but she was also trapped in not only a loveless marriage but one without utility at all.

Such things drove Abagail nuts and she took her frustrations out on Blanche as well as the servants. And yet he did nothing about it. I don't see how her actions didn't warrant a divorce or worse. Instead he let things spiral out of control until Abigail died.

So what next? What if our FL hadn't inhabited Abagail's body? I'd like to hope he wouldn't remarry again, again. Cuz obviously he has no intention to behave like a husband. And to be clear I don't think he has to love a woman he is married to for political reasons, but creating an heir is part of those politics. Behaving like a couple in public is part of those politics. It shows' that the two houses, or in this case countries, have a strong bond. Our FL is whipping him into emotional shape, which is both good and bad. Good because obviously he's never learned the basics. Bad because once again the FL has to teach a ML how to human.

this was really well said and I agree. It doesn't make sense that Abigail is the only one that is portrayed as being in the wrong. The ML is also in the wrong and I loved when our FL said that (in her thoughts). I loved it when our FL was saying how the ML was more of a villain than Abigail was but Abigail took all of the blame.
