Social culture in Asia to clear up some mishaps!

Hey y’all, so I’ve seen a bunch of posts being really uncomfortable abt the professor relationship thing and I totally agree with y’all that there’s an important power difference at play here, however I also wanted to clear up a few things about Asian professors - generally, they’re a LOT younger than you’d expect them to be: yes there are the older ones who have the same situation as the professors in the USA (or other countries), but there are also a shit ton of professors that are only a few years older than their students. My parents was in a somewhat teacher student relationship and they’re 6 years apart (my dad was my mom’s homeroom b class physics teacher and he was an assistant professor technically (kinda like a head teacher and other teachers in a subject sorta thing) but he was still a professor). So there’s not a MASSIVE age gap where it’s to the point of it being grooming and the professor being a predator, but it’s not exactly orthodox either: people are still abound to rumors like “ur sleeping with ur teacher for the grades” and there’s obviously the power dynamic. I hope I cleared things up a little bit! Tho Min’s relationship with her professor is in no way professional and is kinda toxic, they’re not exactly like a 40 year old professor thirsting after their 18 year old student
