I think the ml got engaged to the fl as a "reward" for saving his life? That's why he went through the effort of getting her adopted by a strong family who could support her so no one would question their engagement?— rn the story is kinda messy cause ml has been out of the picture for a while haha
You're not confused at all that pretty much sums it up and I've read every chapter
First part is correct and she refers to all of them as villians. The Duke is always hiding because they are not on good terms they are enemies who only had a truce for a moment during to the deal made with the mc which her new family broke by trying to kill the Duke. They never said the mc or ml lead is in love only hint they liked each other. From ml view he likes mc because she saved him and her personality and has deemed her as someone he could trust. From mc pov the ml lead is a character she wanted to save because he was cute and treated the workers well which also secured her job and life. As Parr of the deal with her new family, they would get along with the Dukes and the proof was the mcs engagement to the Duke which she was not opposed to because she had grown to like the ml because hes handsome rich and protects her as well as being nice. She could not get engaged however because she Is to young according to the law and a couple xant be more than 10 yrs apart (which I don't understand since she is technically 18) and her new family are very much against it on principle of her being their new treasure so they tried to kill the Duke as they are very much villians
im really having trouble understanding the story
i read this before and just came back after a few weeks, I cant be bother to reread it again as i had trouble understanding it the first time (hence why i kinda dropped it)

ml (i think is the white haired and also the supposed villain of the original story) was saved by our mc, mc became a child,
ml doesnt know how to bring her back to adult, sent her to the villain (idk why they are the villain when the ml is the villain also), they have a higher chance of breaking the spell.
they went through a lot of trouble to adopt her
the ml was the one who suggested to get her adopted but idk why he's always hiding.
