On the Topic of Human Hypocrisy

So humans are "hypocrites" and "contradicting" because unlike most animals (not all) we do develop deeper feelings of attachment to things. We go through life assigning values to things that we come across, so I do not blame Yayoi for being a "hypocrite" when he says Chitose should not eat that bird. Humans don't eat something they've raised with love and care, which is why there is such a big separation between "pets" and "animals". As humans we make the distinction between those two categories by our own feelings of attachment only, nothing else.
Chitose does not understand this. He is a vampire, not human, so he sees food and nothing else. The manga will be cliche in the sense that Yayoi will probably teach him some human compassion but I like this kind of plot ლ(´ڡ`ლ)

Yeah, in a similar sense, we tend to try to give even prison inmates on death row a compassionate treatment: with a quick and painless death and all that. Japanese people even say "Thanks for the food" before their meal as a way to thank the animal that sacrificed it's life so they could continue living.
