Exactly, I'm starting to like the Duke a little more as her father, but even if he's a tsundere, it doesn't excuse his neglect towards his daughter. She grew up without any parental love so it's no wonder that she was known to have such a bad rep.
I just hope he had a reeeaaally good reason for never spending any time with his daughter when she was growing up.
At some point the manga did go into the details as to why he wasn’t close with her and the reason was because the Emperor doesn’t like her father(it might be an inferior complex) so he would do anything to make his life difficult so if the emperor knew him and his daughter was close he would make her life hell too.
This would be explained waay later in the story.
But just want you to know, his father always treasure Juvelian dearly.
The villain in this story is the emperor.
