well i see what the author used, if you didn't know, researchers actually did find that all races originated from Africa and migrated to Europe, Asia etc. so that was provably what the author was going for to show how their race in the story became what it is now
i didn't see anything wrong with it i thought it was a nice little detail that correlates to real life research and put into fictional interpretation

Gypsies aren't black, they're Indian. And they did get lighter over the years once they began moving west and bred with lighter skinned, European people. It doesn't exactly make them white and there are still several camps of gypsies with their more Indian features. Doe I do get wanting a darker skinned protagonist.

Since when is dark skin equal to black? Are you trying to describe their skin colour or talking about the race because very few people use the word black while describing someone who is not, well part of that race. Middle easterners have dark skin as well; Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Arabs etc. I'm just pointing out your incorrect assumption that the MC's ancestors were black since historically gypsies are of Indian descent. And if they're being called gypsies then the inspiration is clearly taken from the real world context which makes them dark skinned and Middle Eastern, but not black? Is what I'm trying to say coming across?
what the fuck? all the black people just disappeared for what?? can’t read this cause they just grazed over that and acted like that was okay. strange asf.
