He was remembering his past.
He got into an accident and when he woke up he thought that he got reincarnated. He kept having a pain in the back of his head saying that he forgot something. The thing he forgot was his past relationship with his friend and how it leads to him trying to commit sewer side in the future/ current times.

Yes and no. He was in a coma and was dreaming of his past without remembering the future. So basically he was dreaming of his past but changed some things to fit his own narrative.

Pretty much. I feel like if he kept going and refused to acknowledge his past he would have actually died or been stuck in a coma.
