They both are hurting bcuz of the prince cuz the prince didn't understand the situation. He clearly doesn't like eris and he don't care abt her. Elena on other hand is just following the prince bcuz of the status.
Imagine defying the crown prince, she might bring harm to her mother. Her being dumb is not her fault. Her mother literally manipulated and emotionally damaged her. Well she's getting a character development as she grow up.
All this shit happens because of the prince
