In my family, my (blood related) aunt met her husband and got married (uncle by marriage). My uncle (by marriage)'s sister met my other blood related uncle (my aunts brother) and then THEY got married. It sounds more confusing than it is lol. Either way, it didn't stop anyone from getting married and I don't think the dad should call it off. He deserves to be happy too!
