A Qiurky Vampire Story

I enjoy BL like so many other members on this forum, but that doesn't mean that I want everything to be BL. Sometimes the smex can get in the way of the story instead of helping it. Though the refs to BL in this story does confuse the issue a bit. I feel that the mangaka is deliberately being a bit vague and borderline, and will probably not be definite as to BL relationships between characters. Playing with readers expectations and being a bit of a tease on purpose (just my opinion).

But I like this exactly for that reason- a bit of a quirky vampire story without those obvious sex etc. plotlines.

I don't think you know, based on your comment, that there is a HUGE difference between yaoi and shonen ai. Yaoi has sex scenes, while shonen ai just shows that they're falling in love and maybe a bit of kissing (it will definitely have kissing if it also has the romance genre, but nothing more)

I'm not sure what I said made you think that I was not aware of the difference, as I am. My comment was made with that difference in mind. What I was referring to was the actual reltionships between the characters themselves, and that the mangaka may leave that vague, borderline and undefined as well. In shonen ai while there may be no sex, you don't have to be in doubt of a couple's feelings or relationship status. So for the mangaka to possibly deliberately leave the matter vague, would be a tease. Not that I mind.

I got the same impression actually because they immediately associated sex with BL. BL is not defined by sex. Yaoi is though. So you weren't alone.

I used BL in my comment above because that was what was used in the manga. My comment was also made partly in response to a lot of other comments which seemed to want more actual yaoi content. I like a certain degree of variety in focus in different mangas.
