My opinion about Kirishima...

That psycho sadistic bad boy deserves more beating and not to get the girl at the end!

I like Yoshino but I wish she would care less about that twisted asshole and be more stronger smarter than him. Her wanting to win against him only gives him more power over her and brings her more unnecessary hardships.
They are not really equals, if you look more precisely at the story.

Sorry, but I do not tolerate the motivation of twisted sado maso arrogant manchild MLs.
I ve seen his type in many other mangas/manhwas before and it's always the same:
The bored messed up spoiled superior Alphahole likes/wants the "not like the other girls" FL but also enjoys to torture/teasing her. In the end they are together after she suffers a lot and finally gave in her hidden unaware deep feelings for the jerk that used anything rude/questionable to get attention.
Another example: Boys Over Flower + Kaichou wa Maid sama + Special A

Krishima does not suffers or struggles like Yoshino...
He threatens, plays, toys with, provokes, stalks, lovebomb her etc and gets mad out of boredom + entitlement. How many times have I seen Yoshino fearing for her life or getting anxious stressed because of him... She has badass moments but when it comes to the ML she is unfortunately inferior/weaker than him.
She deals with his antics/shenanigans and he gets amused/entertained by her reactions at her cost.

I know this dark twisted story is very engaging for a certain audience but personally I really wanna see glorified romanticized toxic guys like Krishima suffer/broken/humiliated/punished...

Oh wait! There are two bad bitch queens who are very capable destroying MLs like Krishima:
Su Lüxia (Cheating Men Must Die) and Melissa (Beware Of The Villainess).

Shouma that sweet real nice respectful hearthrob... He is sadly the 2nd ML Syndrome and her "cousin".

By the way, do you think Kirishima would be able to deal with Yankumi from Gokusen?

I don't think they r defending him instead they r defending the story cos him being a prince charming Yakuza as u all expect him to be will ruin the whole plot of this manga him being a toxic criminal be makes ... Shiki

But the archetype/story of the arrogant obsessive ML with sado-maso violent tendencies towards his love interest is not that unique at all. If you search more, you will discover there are plenty enough stories (movies, dramas, mangas, manhwas, manhuas from all Asia) about his type of ML.

It would subvert the expectations and be quite groundbreaking, if he doesn't end up with the FL at all.

Yes. That stereotype is very common. And in most cases the tone it down a little when the ml "comes to terms with their feelings" after making them suffer a lot they finally get that they love them and doesn't want to hur them anymore... I do agree with you that it is overly popular and it got boring besides the behavioral problems in it.
I don't know how much it will get toned down in the case of this one, because he is already fairly obsessed (protective) with her and as with Nao matters Yoshino wouldn't accept being treated as a porcelain doll and left out.

That is actually the biggest point of this and differentiate it from others... Yoshino. Usually the "she's not like the others" is the pure, not greedy for money or power, innocent civilian type... And that's kinda how Yoshino acted after she just arrived in Tokyo... partly in response to how weirdly normal he acted too... which confused her.. and got him uninteressed... after that first fight? between them and her going back to normal, acting with him as she would act around her people in Osaka that he got interested.

Again. This is not about him. He is trash... and we know it. This is about her. She being raised around those kind of men and knowing how to deal with it. She wasn't raised like Yankumi with the option of going to marry a civilian and living a normal life if she wanted. I mean... she probably could if she wanted. But she was raised to be a proper Yakuza madam... I think it didn't even crossed her mind marrying outside the yakuza...

They not ending together would really be a interesting twist. And I did love Hirunaka for the mc not ending with the teacher. But it would also be nice to see them ending together with her being his equal and not only out of love but out of respect. A king need a queen to rule by his side, not a princess he needs to protect. Obviously she would be a queen no matter whom she marries... but he would probably not find someone as good as her after that...

Thats why I ship Shouma with Tsubaki instead with Nao for example... because Tsubaki is already part of that world...
