okay so! The father gave her a knife to protect herself, but since his daughter misunderstood and she didn't know since her father barely gives her affection although he loves her! And yes you're correct!! The crown prince was trying to help her : ) sadly it was all a misunderstanding that was created which caused her to end her life since she was in fear.

omg i feel the exact same way!!! my guess is that the current king/emperor dude (i can't remember his name), is using Jubellian as a way to blackmail the duke because he's afraid that the duke will try and overthrow him (because he's a shit monarch)

because it's pretty obvious that the father is wayy stronger than he is, and could easily remove him from power if he wished, so in order to prevent the father from doing so, he is blackmailing him through his daughter... or something along those lines
