yea wouldn't it be weird if they had problems and they were solved to fast, I'm sure the plot would suck if that was the story but its not

Yes, it is.
This manga feels so realistic to me. Kyoko is developing and maturing into a woman she can be proud of, and on top of that Ren slowly is overcoming his demons-- they are, the both of them.
I feel that the progress between the main characters is good and even if romantic readers complain; I think that it's an excellent idea that the progress is slow because from the very beginning Ren says that he will not let himself be happy and Kyoko was/is still troubled by her first loved which we all could agree was a disaster and the guy deserves a kick in the nuts! !
But anyway, it is good progress because while Kyoko &Ren are trying their best and are convincing themselves to give themselves a second and final chance to love and find happiness we are witnesses of Kyoko forgiving people who'd hurt her deeply and learning from her experiences, while Ren is coming out from the darkness he was in all these years... I can see a beautiful climax and ending coming up with full of agnst and comedy.
I'm glad I came upon this manga.
