I read the novel back in 2019 and the translations were really bad so I'm not really sure but so far I understood (anyone else who have read the novel, plz feel free to correct me).........
He does something to her, I don't really remember what but I think he intentionally put Penelope in danger just to test her and see how she reacts which I think was a dick move. The Crown Prince had to step in to save her. Plus he is 26 and Penelope is 17, even though the age difference didn't really bother me, I stopped shipping her with him after what he did.
