If I remember properly from the novel (someone will correct if I’m wrong) empress goes to visit her family at their home and Rose sends assassins to attempt to kill her on her way back. Empress is able to fabricate the evidence she needs after the Emperor heard Rose talking about killing the empress with her little maid. So essentially the empress is like I’m taking her head and the emperor supports. The duke (Roses adoptive dad) isn’t able to do shit about Rose because his wife (who is of higher rank than him) divorces the duke and kicks him and his mistress out of her home after finding out he drugged her and got her pregnant with his son just to trap her in a marriage.
Does that spoiler suffice?
The duke who adopted Rose is different from the one that the Empress's sis is investigating right?
And how many chapters until we reach the incident?
