I think his character is great for Maxi because Ruth and riftan have strong personalities but riftan is nice and has status which I think makes it hard for maxi to communicate to him sometimes but with Ruth he pushes maxi and challenges her which I believe will play a role in her development

I know y’all find Ruth like a bit rude but I promise you he’s actually the person in the castle that helps maxi out with everything he helped her with the house, the tree, basic education, how money works, magic, and the basic treatment for an injured person and also he tries to help her cure her stutter slowly but surely it’s just he’s the blunt type and he’s honest af he wouldn’t sugar coat things even if it’ll come off as rude he’s the only one giving a lot of info and help to maxi so don’t hate him y’all
