I think it was because Cayena back then was obsessive. She didn't gave him space, pushed her feelings and followed him like a ya know, beautiful admirer haha (it hurts me to call her a stalker ). He might have love her but not enough to get pass her behavior, I guess? Just a theory thou.
Oh that makes sense, that's a good theory, he might have loved her as she did give him affection first when others didn't especially his mother but he knew that affection cayena was giving was obsessive & he didn't like it like that

I want to know if the ML loved the FL (Cayena) in the first timeline because I saw someone say he loved Cayena in both timelines and if so then why did he marry someone else(OG Heroine) in the first timeline?
