I Don't know for sure but I could imagine that Dr. Maria after a long discussion with De. Lee joins their group and help her to kill him.
she has a crush on dr. lee and dr. Lee has a crush on Dr. Maria , but I don't think she is self conscious that she ha a crush on her or she just tries to ignore it and can't do it.

I hope that was understandable because my english is not that good.
