Unpopular opinion

You know there are those "I reincarnated as the villainess" isekais? And in those the female lead is this angelic presence that "saves" every man from their life long trauma with some basic bitch, cliche phrase? Like "you're not a monster, you're you" "I still like you because I think you're very kind" or some shit? This girl is like that. It makes the experience so much less fun for me. The abandoned and abused child angle has been used quite a bit in other series as well but I truly enjoy their thought processes. But this child's wide eyed "saviour of the world without even realising it" makes her so fucking annoying.

yea i lowkey feel that especially when you've read too many of the same manhwas with the same plots. although it's fun to read them at times when ur bored. try a different genre? thats what i did and now im obsessed with psychological stuff lmfao ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~

woah looks like it is an unpopular opinion??? but i agree with you. it doesn't feel like there's any real character development. like sherriie said, it is fun to read when you're bored. it just doesn't feel as satisfying as it might've been when i began reading isekai manhwas. still, it's nice to read the updates even if i'm not on the edge on my seat for the next chapter :)

Ahahahaha... better try to look for another genre for some refreshment.
As for me, I read this manhwa and novel for the fluff (most Korean web novel I read are.. too much angst, revenge, and for western novels, I usually read the thriller or basic young adult stories. my guilty pleasure is trashy romance novels lmao. I am enjoying Maybelle's story and always look forward to the novel update every 4 pm near the end of office hours last year). And it's the specialty of Rykell's family: burying conflict under the rug and enjoying tea time in every opportunity lmao.

the current trend is the MC/ML turned to some kind of animal.. I'm waiting for the zoo (yeah, many manhwa adaptations of that genre lmao, we have a falcon, rabbit, leopard XDD) to be licensed in my country while saving the Korean raw novel chapter to read.

Back to Maybelle... her setup is similar to her mother (Galatea). Tea is an elf with too many admirers (human or not lol) and practically no one hates her except the antagonists. she is practically a saintess and Maybelle takes after her in terms of personality. Tea also save and healed Rykell's heart from the jerkass Cyclamen family, too.

Maybelle's half-elf heritage is a genetic cheat code because she got the "guide of constellation" instinct (a sharper version of human perception plus elf lie-detector) so she believing Phon is kinda natural (Phon never hides anything from her, it's Rykell who ban him to speak. Put aside all of the sweet talk and kindness, she made the right judgment, tho. if Phon is truly dangerous, Rykell will not let him live/killed him at the expense of no royal imperial family left when his rebellion is successful. Phon is an expendable pawn, but rykell protects him at all cost even when Phon injured him, and never uses Phon as leverage to the trash emperor).

Maybelle won't taste a betrayal like Leslie (Monster Duchess and Contract Princess) because her instinct will keep her out of trouble. Her hardships are mostly about how to control her power and exploring her talent.

Besides the overpowered magic (good genetic there), Maybelle will admit that she is practically reaping the result of her parent's good deeds (many people will help and love her without question, mostly for Galatea lmao. everyone is annoyed at Rykell at least once)...she can act dumb and people still respect her because she is Rykell and Galatea's daughter...

Maybelle has the least conflict among her MC peers from another story because her path is pretty smooth thanks to daddy and mommy... (She is a supporting character in her own story, because Rykell works the most part himself to liberates everyone in the background. Maybelle even gave up her idealistic wish to free her father and choose to support Rykell's move because it is more practical lmao, not only for her father but also for everyone)

I agree, I want some MCs to embrace their villainy and become an anti-hero.

If the abused kid angle is actually well thought through and written, it’s not annoying. But if it’s stuff like this and the person gets over their trauma really easily it’s pretty annoying bc trauma isn’t something u “get over”. It’s something you learn to deal/cope with for the rest of your life.

Yes! Sure the process is different for everyone and there's no textbook ptsd experience. Even that way the trauma is dealt with in such a meh way? Sure she learned to trust these people after seeing they're good people but that's so poorly done? In this other work with twins who were abused it was dealt with in a very real way. And in maxi's story she still has a persistent stutter and extreme anxiety. Trauma takes time and effort and energy and so much consideration. She just doesn't seem like a real person when she reacts the way she does, kindness is not an inbuilt mechanism you are taught it and you learn it. It makes no sense she's this kind gentle, emphatic person despite _never_ experiencing something like that.
