She already has a good relationship with mr. hottie he literally just proclaimed he was gonna build a greenhouse for her lol. He’s a total sucker for her. He wants to spoil her and he was concerned that he wasn’t doing enough for his son.
The next meeting would be the perfect time to get them together. The amount of self confidence the kid would have would shoot up through the roof if he knew the dad actually loved him.

It shows that it doesn’t really affect his perception of the child. I think it’s just hard for him to approach the kid bc it’s been years, the mom isn’t there and breaking that ice is hard for him. They said it in the earlier chapters the prince and his father can’t been seen together and he can’t show any affection towards the prince because of the curse that’s why he ignores him
