At least my taste has some seasoning, it’s a messy romance story it’s bound to have messiness. But people like you want just simple boring friend/fall in love/happy ending kind of end even if it means the mc leaves and “finds himself” it’s a story, not everything has to be picture perfect or else no one would read it
if you want a story with the right amount of 'seasoning' and not the cookie cutter happy ending i'd recommend checkmate (tan) and stalker's game both are from the same author, they're examples of toxic relationships done right and are actually interesting to read. '10 years where I loved you the most' is also a good one.
this kind of thing is only fun to read when the characters have some depth, yahwi is just a one dimensional bad guy stereotype who's given a generic sob story to make his actions seem justifiable and the author couldn't find any ways to redeem him other than making him dumb as fuck. same with cain his backstory is even more ridiculous. jooin x yahwi isn't spicy at all it's just extremely underwhelming and flustrating to read people only want cain cause it's the better choice.
it'd be actually interesting if yahwi realized he was the problem the whole time and jooin decided to move on, or if it ended with him choosing him and regretting his life choices for charging straight at red flags like a bull but no, we all know this is also gonna end with a supposedly wholesome happy ending
