Although your statement isn’t entirely wrong, Yohan was afraid if he stood up for himself in anyway, he’d cause trouble for his family. And let’s be honest, words will not stop the hands that are beating you. Even if he did speak up about it, the bullies would have not stopped bullying him. Putting your family or people first isn’t always associated with “stupidity,” it can be a sign of a mental illness and people who usually do this usually grew up in a toxic household.
I do not agree at all with his view of things. I can understand that he does not like violence but from there to let yourself being harassed by others, it is called stupidity. You can defend yourself without using violence and sometimes it is the only solution you have left for your physical and psychological integrity. In our world, people who are too nice are used by others.
