Yona's trying to save Soo Won because, 1)She's got a heart, 2)She knows that Soo Won's illness is connected to the legend and the dragons, and 3)She is very well aware that, right now, if Soo Won died, Kyoka would be a mess. If you haven't forgotten, a war just ended, and another one may very well be about to start. If they lost their king, there would be chaos.
(If you're doubting me and wondering if I'm biased cause I like Soo Won, I don't like that dude. Hak is also like one of my all time favorite characters too so yeah.)

At least someone can take a discussion here. Thanks for sharing your points! While I do agree to some extent, it’s always Hak who has to sacrifice. It’s not Yona powerless this time. She can easily take over what’s rightfully hers. I just dislike the fact that she keeps on saving everyone including soowon. Soowon made his choice and he chose to cut her off. I get that they’re trying to make her the sympathetic FL but come on, this dude killed you family and basically betrayed you. It just doesn’t make sense for her to be so forgiving immediately

I for one completely agree with you. It would be nice that she shows at least a little anger for what he did but nope. Why do FL always have to be portrayed to be the bigger person and always be forgiving to those that wronged them? I'm sick of it. Soo-wons actions might have been for the right reasons but does the means really justify the end? Does his excuses (of it being for the good of the country) still make what he did right?

openly welcome? are we even reading the same manga? do you expect her to snap at the king of the country (who's also terminally ill, physically/mentally vulnerable) in his castle where she's surrounded by his men? in a situation where all her actions could turn into a political issue? what do you even expect her to do? if someone decided she had ill intent towards the king (when she's already considered a threat for knowing about his situation) they'd have to take action, if they did she'd have to directly confront them using the dragons powers and if that happened 1. she and her companions would be in danger 2. that would cause inner conflict and the country that was already vulnerable after years of terrible ruling would be doomed. i don't really understand what you find unrealistic here.
it's not some fairytale where the op mc can conquer kingdoms, solve world hunger and bring world peace overnight while acting like a mentally unstable 12 yo. she's in a situation where she has to be mature, calm and not show her true feelings. her development was perfectly realistic considering their relationship. first she was shocked, then sad, angry and finally she's overcome her grief and is looking for reasons. does she agree with his ways? no. does she understand why he's done it? yeah. does that mean she forgives him? no.

Okay, first of all no need to snap at people just because they have different opinion about a manga. It’s a manga so chill out. We can engage in a decent conversation just like what me and @blues were doing. Also, while to some extent I agree with some points you said here — there are also some that I disagree. At the end of the day, what I’m frustrated about is she always takes advantage of Hak’s kindness. Sure, she can’t act rashly BUT she also has an advantage and that is soowon’s weakness. But she decided to once again spare him because she felt pity of what is happening to him & what happened to his family. So she did make a choice but don’t think for a second that she’s forced to do it simply because there’s no other possible actions.

i'm not snapping at you, i don't remember insulting you or even saying anything remotely rude but sorry if it sounded like that.
i don't really think hak has ever gotten 'taken advantage of', whatever she choses he'd willingly go along with it except the times he's lost his cool and can't think rationally. soo-won isn't even a love interest anymore, the love triangle between soo-won/yona/hak no longer exists. he has also started questioning soo-won's motives so i don't think yona's the only one who'd be willing to save him.
soo-won's illness is not an advantage for yona, if someone who's not supposed to know found out it'd be the end of the country she wants to protect. like i said, overthrowing soo-won would cause serious internal and external conflict, it's not as easy as killing him and taking the throne for themselves. for yona the kingdom and it's citizens is more important than her grudge for soo-won, i doubt she wants to be a queen anyway but that's just my opinion

Okay thanks for clarifying! Glad we’re exchanging good points here. Don’t get me wrong, I agree that there’s no longer a love triangle. I mean it’s obvious who’s the end game here not unless the mangaka decides to screw us all and yona unexpectedly ends up with soowon (which I doubt lol) thing is, yeah she doesn’t force Hak to do things but because of her choices, Hak always has to adjust (I know it’s not her fault but I wish at times she can be more selfish like pamper Hak for a bit lmao) also, saving soowoon does not mean it’s good for the country. I think the author is hinting here that she has to make another choice. Will she step up and take over what’s rightfully hers? Or will she continue to support soowon just for the sake of the country’s stability. Again, she always has a choice. The people supporting soowoon don’t trust her 100% anyway so I think she should just own up her destiny and become a queen. At the end of the day, she can’t save everyone. The same way that soowon decided to discard her.

i do agree with some of your points (especially about hak lol my dude got his feelings returned after years of unrequited love but they can barely see each other) but honestly, i still think yona would choose to save soo-won if she had the chance to. not because she pities him or anything though.
someone mentioned something about zeno's powers passing on to soo-won and i think that wouldn't be a bad scenario. zeno becomes mortal like he wants and soo-won gets to follow his father's wish of protecting the kingdom forever while also suffering for the crimes he commited. it's not impossible since he also has a relation to king hiryuu so i think it'd be either him dying of the illness or that. anything else would be too underwhelming and yona killing him to get revenge wouldn't make sense imo
Hak deserves better. Stop giving Yona the heaven. Just leave her. Really. I am getting annoyed with Yona’s character. Always trying to save Soowon
