She's just acting very sus. the way she presents her ideas/requests are pretty underhand by threatening. Its understandable with her background, but if you want a partnership with someone its better to come clean instead of trying to twist their arms to get them to do what you want.
she also doesn't seem to really have the best interested towards the MC which is fine, just as readers its not someone who ppl can wholeheartedly trust. and i also think the author is making her seem like that, which is done very well
