I think if you read the novel it's more complete,it helps and explains everything well. And Elena is not the kind to "solve" her problems by dumping everything in a marriage and boom everything solved
she wants to have power a fast as possible and in order to do that, she has to marry a powerful man (since its a patriarchal society). if she were to get her own power, it would takes years and patience but she doesnt have time to waste
Exactly, she has to save her father, brother and sister, and herself. She can do all of the above, by first saving Caril, and then marrying him. Cause he was supposed to die that night. Elena isn't that kind of fl...she is a Warrior, a very intelligent and clever one.
I can’t help but laugh at how so many fl think marrying will solve all the problems. I mean it always works but I wish they would deviate a little bit for this cliches
