I think Kyle is vulnerable because he is new to the whole esp thing. He doesn't know anything about what they are talking as they didn't give him a full explanation. Also everything happened so suddenly for him so he needs time to process those. And moreover he grew up in an extremely loving and dependend family. I think they treated him like the baby of family. Hence he is a bit more vulnerable and naive
