Novel has it that Rudy did fell inlove at first sight to Judith. His mom loves and cared for Judith because she looks like the Royal Lady that she serve (Luca's grandma on father side). Rudy wasn't shown any affection from his mom instead all of her attention and love are given to Luca's father because he was the son of her former Lady that she serve. Also that is the reason why Rudy isn't really vocal with his emotion because he didn't know how to show it on the first place.

i’ll give my two cents on the whole love at first sight thing for rudy. now i actually believe it wasn’t love at first sight but more like instant attraction since rudy isn’t the most emotionally mature person out there especially when it comes to affection. his mother had an affinity for purple eyes and i feel like that sort of rubbed off on him, not to mention that judith is objectively very pretty. in his first life i think he felt a connection to her since they both made some bad decisions in terms of luca. in this life i think he’s attracted to her and will learn to love her as he learns more about who she is.
