It happens nowdays for the shounen series(ex : opm and jjk). Maybe houseki no kuni too but idk if that series consider as shounen or not. But yeah its gotten so dark nowdays (=・ω・=)

I love and hate everyone's eyes in season 5. they're darker, which I love, but I also hate it. Everyone is so traumatized. The first season was bright, happy, and just very shonen. But now, it's **much** more seinen. I don't think anyone expected how dark a turn this was gonna take. If anything, I love this series more now, it still has the shonen personalities mc but now it has a seinen plot and background. Nevertheless, I'm here for it!!
