I think it's still very early for her to express emotions for duke. She is probably not clueless about what red head is doing to her. She is redirecting the conversation and situation to what she needs in order to escape from him. It's logical thing to do and she is a logical person.
It's because how she sees herself: A tool - not allowed to even have feelings - and a villainess - not only not deserving happiness or love but also having to atone for what she had done in her previous life. That doesn't mean she wants to get hurt, only that she accepts to get hurt if she deems it necessary.
Yup, and it's hurt so much to see her deeming herself unworthy to receive Cedric's affection, considering what she'd done to Evron Duchy in her past life
