It's been a month since i learned that roxanned will end up with the goddamn duke. BUT, i kinda feel for her decision of choosing him over Cemi because:
1. They live in a society wherein women are treated as goods. 2. Her father is a greedy mf, obvs he won't be selling roxanne at a cheap price 3. Cemi is not yet a well established aristocrat, her Father won't eve approve of him bc the higher the bid, the higher the chance of getting roxanne
Given that Roxanne hates her circumstances, i believe she'd rather choose the Duke over getting married to an old rich noble or some sort. Plus the Duke has already shown some resolve to change his ways, thus reassuring Roxanne.
Even if the author did make it so that roxanne ended up with Cemi, idk how that would turn out. Plus, Roxanne cares for Cemi very much, she's not the type of person who would risk the well being of someone she genuinely cares for just for her own greed. ++Because their society has been set in stone for a long time, they can't change that, thus their life will be very shitty. And you can't expect much since the novel only has 10 chapters.
