Makoto continued to work in the brothel bc he wanted to learn more about the demon world and demons in general (which was also the same reason J had made him work in the brothel in the first place).
And from what I understood, power and superiority in the demon world are measured by how charming the demon could be. In short, basically words are used as a weapon of manipulation (the more weak-willed u are, the more fucked u are in the demon world lol). And considering Makoto’s personality, he’s a deceiver and could somewhat easily adapt in situations after his mini meltdowns, so him building up power in a span of three years isn’t really far-fetched (after all, he managed to say Fjord’s name before the time skip even happened). However he isn’t that SUPER powerful yet if that’s what you’re implying, he’s just in the same standing as Datenshou which is still commendable. And about his relationship with J, it’s kinda complicated to explain so I’ll just leave it to ur imagination lol.

So, this is going to be published in my country like this wednesday and I already pre-ordered it (I hope they don't censor it because this is a masterpiece) but is it only me or in the second volume it becomes confusing?
I really didn't understand what was appening, why he suddenly became powerful and why he worked at the brothel.. And I can't understand his relationship with J anymore.
