I can relate to SOME if the things you said but Dann you gotta remember it's fictional. so criteria doesn't really apply here . sometimes you gotta just enjoy the story without reading too much into it and trying to see a pattern. ..

I really feel like Yumeji was just lusting after Shinkai and not really in love with him. I think Shinkai has the potential to become abusive in the future as well, he fits a lot of the criteria. Abusers tend to start off with saying cold things and then work up to becoming sexually and/or physically aggressive. The abuser apologizes and asks for forgiveness every time only to do it again. Yumeji has the perfect wishy washy personality that partners that get abused have. I know a lot of people won't like this, but I'm just trying to bring a realistic perspective to it.
