Actually no Winterwald has ever used the cup to make a wish. The cup itself is only "passed down" through generations. Only those of *royal blood* can make a wish using it. Hence, why Luca was able to make his wish. The cup was given to the Winterwalds in order for them to protect it from anyone who wants to quench their greed. The Winterwalds are specifically tasked to keep it away from the royal family.

BTW I forgot to mention that in the original timeline of the novel before our MC transmigrated. Duker Rudiger's mom, Sophie dies because of anxiety/ trauma/ depression or in short mental illness ever since she found out that Duke Rudiger died.
