It may just be that his daughter reminds him of the trauma that he never really healed from
I always attributed his lack of relationship with his daughter to lack of experience, since he never had any relationship with his own parents and never saw any other parent/child relationship firsthand to use as a guide. Plus his trauma meant that he was too busy dealing with himself and his responsibilities to pay more attention to Blanche than was required of him.
I get the feeling that Mr. Duke here has gynophobia (a phobia with women) after that incident...
I feel saddened.
Is this also the reason why he can't show his love for his daughter?
