I do admit that it's really sus, but it's not unusual for these things like that to happen in a manhwa. For now, all we know is that Hwan was just happy that Chiwoo gets to stay by his side, though I suppose it wouldn't be that far of a stretch to consider that Hwan has some type of magic he doesn't realize or something that caused the accident. But I think that scene was just there to show what type of a person Hwan was, happy that Chiwoo will stay by his side no matter what, even of that means his family is dead and Chiwoo is unhappy. With the way things are going I'm suspecting the author is trying to make a rift between Chiwoo and Hwan to either have Jin swoop in and mister steal you girl and date Chiwoo instead, or have Hwan realize that the only way he can keep Chiwoo is to clean up his act and stop acting like an ass.

Rn I am 100 percent sure that hwan caused the accident. Cuz previous ep showed a flash back where he wanted to uke to stay soo badly. After the accident he sticked with uke like a super glue.
