I actually don't think he chose to kill her, he just couldn't resist the bitchass witch's power on him. I hope that author tell us more about his mentality in that moment cus i don't believe he didn't resist that witch.
They said obeying and loving the saintess is almost like an instinct and irresisteble. Ahuin think that witch as a saintess, Noelle think our fl as a saintess. Ahuin knows Noelle doesn't love his saintess and try to cover her up so she won't get into trouble. Noelle knows Ahuin doesn't believe our fl is the saintess, she just get mad at him and shut him down. Almost the same feelings, different behaviors to each other. I explained this easiest as i can.
From what I got, Wings HAVE to follow any command given to them by the saintress, they don't have a choice. That's why he was also telling Noel to be cautious, bc if something happened and he was given a command by the Saintress, he wouldn't have any other choice but to obey it.
