i think there was a chap with helenas pov where the head maid told her that she has no choice but to follow the princes wishs when she wanted nothing to do with it. this is what made me not shit on her

For God's sake thousands of women were and still are told that say have no choice, but you need to stand up for you and others sake. As you can see her plan not to disobey others doesn't work for anyone. You know if she weren't dumb and selfish she would have gone to FL explained, and proofed everything and planed how to get desired results , and there is thousands of ways to do that. And if she couldn't see how strong FL's position was ( even ML couldn't shake it properly) then she is dumber than I thought.
Your comment shows extreme PRIVILEGE. Some people literally don’t have the privilege to stand up for themselves. And when they do they get gaslighted, victim blamed, and etc. To add onto that, it was very apparent the previous FL (not our current Korean Eris) didn’t like Elena, how is she suppose to seek help to someone who originally wouldn’t have helped her (which I can understand why) but our FL isn’t an option, she doesn’t wish to help her (which is lowkey interesting to the story). Now I do believe there are options and routes to help Elena and she SHOULD try and prioritize those options, buts its extremely hard because in all honesty who is willing to go up against the CROWN prince.
Than she needs to draw clear line between her and FL. She countinues to act like innocent and wants to be friends with her and it is impossible. And if she knows that none will go against crown prince and she has his full "support " and "protection"than she could have rejected red haired guys offer to make her knight, or dates with the priest. She could have said you : know crown prince doesn't like when I do things like that. Almost everyone knows she isn't just only made in palace. BUT she doesn't want to lose her image in front of others. If she is sacrificing her freedom and will to leave those crazy bastards than at least finish it proper way. And I can't stand her words when she tried to apologize Helena for letting the prince slap her face. If I were on Helena's place I would have felt sooo disrespected. Just reread that chapter again. So you people say that Helena was pure victim and has done nothing wrong because of the at the time women could not do anything about it? You people need to read books and history and learn that time and period wasn't problem for strong and determined women. And if you say that aristocracy was one of the main reason I am telling you search for it . And if you won't be able to find it I will tell you about my country's strong women, who were noblewomen also peasants.
