Wasn't the debt for the cafe in her father's name? Maybe he's trying to separate themselves so she doesn't have to worry about the debt. Because she technically got married to get rid of the debt. Unless I'm completely wrong.
I think so, too, but didn't the debt get paid off already and that's why her family (married family) is broke and her father's shop is still open?
