Mental health can be a reason why someone do an awful thing but it cannot be an excuse. If you did something wrong you still need to apologize. Just because she didnt intended to hurt his son this bad in the end the son is still hurted when the only thing he did is existing (he didnt even ask to be born). So yeah the fl isnt an innocent person here. She done a wrong thing in the past and she still need to take the cause of her actions. Also i am only talking about her son here because the person she has wronged during her depression is only her son.

I mean I get it, but I just think at some point the son is pinning the blame on the mother tooooo much or at least thats how the story is being portrayed as. Although its no excuse that the mom did neglected her son but, the father did the same thing. From my understanding the only thing the father did is gave some sort of education and expect the mother to give the son love, when it should be both the responsibility.

And the only reason she acted that way cause she was feeling hopeless and scared of the pregnancy and the after pregnancy affect. At least thats what i think

Yea i know in any case i think he respect his father like how a student to their teachers but didnt see both of them as his loving parents which is sad. Also i agree the whole point of story is for her to redo everything and make a better choice now but most comments seems to forget the earlier chapters and just completely invalidate the child feeling because lets be honest if someone who never been present at your life since you are born suddenly act all caring to you you gonna get cautious and angry.

Forgiving and forgetting is hard. You have to understand that the mother isn't the only one who was abused here. We as readers, understands the mother's pov, that's why we know she had depression. But the son doesn't know that. They didn't know that. Their knowledge in mental health can't compare to what we have in the modern world. We can't blame him for that. After being neglected by her for years, her mother being nice and loving all of a sudden will confuse him. That will keep his guard up. And the mother is slowly working on it. Give it time. They're progressing. And they will heal. It's only been a few months for them.
