I think it's not that easy to adapt after all. Especially when you get neglected by your mother since you're very young.

I’m thinking it’s because they are in a huge setting for the first time. He’s feeling lost and shocked at how she’s loved and thought of by her friends, something he never saw. He’s never had a momma that taught him how to act in front of females. His social skills are very limited. I think he’s just conflicted. Fl is going overboard with treating him like a child. All in all I feel this is a good thing. Just another step on the two of them understanding each other better.
this is actually scarily realistic ! from experience this is how it usually goes/ends up ! at the beginning from not being neglected “anymore” you cozy up to their love & practically beg for more and are happy but overtime you think & think and cant stop thinking “ when is this going to change again ? “, “ WHY did it change “, “ why are they pretending nothing happened & it wasnt a big deal ???” & you begin to hate & resent them & dont want to be hurt again so you block them out & act cold to protect youself
what? a few chapters ago their relationship was much better and improving and now it feels like we're back to the beginning :(
