D A M N R I G HT!
it gets so frustrating in some other fantasy novels where stronger beings act as a mascot or pet to the MC for fluff factor and because all the attention must be on "OP mc" in the novel.
That's why the dragon is more loved, I guess? He has his own personality, likes dislikes, is a genius, has his innate sense of pride for being a great and mighty creature, and actually contributes to the story instead of just being there to deliver "cute moments", although he does have his childish and cute moments more often than not. And Cale's relationship with the dragon and the cat siblings is actually one of the best things in the novel, like how he basically acts like a father figure to all three of them.
One more thing that I love about the novel is how it portrays the female characters. In most fantasy novels or manhwas, the female characters seem like they were added there because we have to have at least a strong female character and despite being strong they don't contribute much to the story and is only there to serve the purpose of being a potential romantic interest. That's why I love how almost all of the female characters introduced in the novel is badass in one way or the other. Heck, even Cale's nine-year-old lil sister is a badass.

Or the female characters are there to swoon over the op mc. That's, like, their entire purpose. No plot, no contribution. Just the mc's personal love triangle - or worse, harem (because love triangles have SOME use. Harems are just for self inserts).
I also hate those annoying female characters that're just a complete jerk BUT we're supposed to like them for some reason?! Like a really badly portrayed tsundere. It's all fun and games until they start causing actual trouble for the protagonists.

It's even worse when the MC is that annoyingly cheerful character. I know that they're supposed to be likeable and a good person n whatnot, but they have no ACTUAL personality traits.
Sunny? Check. Consistently cheerful? Check. Always smiling? Check. Realistic character flaws that make them relatable? Uh.... yeah, no, we're gonna skip that.
Like, a happy mc is good n all, but I just wanna see em snap and throw some hands.

I wasn't expecting to be personally attacked like that-
But yea, I prob only spent a fRACTION of all my time on mangago actually reading a manga. Istg I've read so many mangas that they all seem so cliche now so then I spend hours on end tryna find something remotely unique
And then the manga I end up reading is filled to the brim with the usual tropes
Damn I avoided this for so long cause I thought it was gonna be the typical "I-got-reincarnated-as-a-weakling-but-will-now-proceed-to-be-completely-OP-and-make-everyone-love-me"
BUT ITS NOT
