The people she killed thinking they were bad were all innocent people. Khalid knew that as he was a somewhat a spy? Or someone who wants the kingdom destroyed. He fell inlove with our mc tho, realizing she was being used. He didn't want her smile to vanish once she learned the truth and so he killed her and made her seem like a hero to their comrades and an honorable general to the enemy kingdom (they live rn). He gave her head to the enemh kingdom and kept her body with him, inside his home... really creepy

I heard that too but apparently, she had found out about the bad things and was going to tell him. that's when he decided to kill her. Basically, he gave the mc zero choice and just decided that he was doing the right thing by killing instead of simply talking to her.
