It's toxic yeah, but bruh, what about the time period? Are they just gonna ignore that? It's a time period where slavery is still prevalent (like how the rich still have slaves and the rich are kinda like noblemen). Basically the rich can kill. So what's rape to them? We're not normalizing or whatever, but it's just how it is back then. This isn't like a modern love stories with just butterflies and rainbows. They shouldn't apply the rules of this world to this story, which is fictional and historical. Do you think, if they went to the POTN universe with their cellphones on Twitter and ranted "omG SeuNgHo, bruuH, you're sO toXic, stoP ughhhh", Seungho will stop being toxic? LOOOOL he might kill them on the spot without even batting an eye. I've already said this sht about fictional and historical settings being different from us and separating what you're reading vs what u do IRL in different webtoon comment sections like Spinnel and ENNEAD. But some ppl still have a hard time understanding it lol. It doesn't take a genius to separate fiction from reality

Some would say it's toxic? Some? Rather concerning that not everyone. Because if someone doesn't consider constant abuse and rape toxic then Idk?
Unique? It's the same from rape to love story with the same naive, sweet and pure bottom character with low status and abusive, badass, rapist, powerful alpha boyfriend.
Brave? Rape sells.
Please to comment above. Here we go again with history argumentation when this story is not historically accurate in the slightest, even author herself said she doesn't really care about history accuracy. Let's just take some half assed excuse to belittle problematic rape plot although even historical circumstances wouldn't change the pain and hell Nakyim went through and his questionable uwu feelings for his tormentor.
The most interesting part of the story are actually side characters and their threads but unfortunately the storyline focused mostly on prelonged rape scenes and not the plot. The whole S2 was rather disappointing.

Sigh. I've never said that. I don't know why these conversations always take the same turn. Where did I say anything about liking dark stories equate to condoning those dark acts. Nowhere. I didn't even implied that.
I was just surprised by the wording. Also "But in life, there aren't always rainbows" is rather questionable commentary to couple with enormous power imbalance, where one is a victim of rape and abuse.
Imo the story would be much braver if the author stucked to her first plan where the story was supposed to be really dark with Seungho being much worse and hopefully without Nakyum feeling badump badump after having his face slammed into the floor few chapters before.

Of course everyone thinks it's toxic idk why the op thinks that some do not. Most readers who like this and ships them just don't care if it is toxic because it's just a story and they know how to discern reality from fiction. Do I enjoy this kind of story? Of course. Would report this kind of relationship to the police? Of course. I agree with everything else you said tho, the author just took the same rape/love trope and put it in a historical setting, the author is just good at setting the mood in the story and drawing characters' expression unlike the usual 5 to 7 chapters of the same trope so it seems unique
Some would say this is toxic. And well, they're right. But in life, there aren't always rainbows. Just like how people bleed, die, and other ugly realities, there are relationships such as what these two have. And I love it. I love how unique this is, how dynamic, how brave the author is for weaving such a plot. And have you seen the art? I've read a lot and believe me when I tell you, the author draws the most expressive faces out of all. I'm astounded by the characters' expressions. Overall, this is truly deserving of the 5 star rating.
