But it makes sense, she’s been isolated, abused, and manipulated all her life. Of course she isn’t going to be smart or calculative like someone in our era who has prior knowledge of things like this
Why though ??
For the reasons I just mentioned. She’s set in a era where women aren’t seen as people but objects.
So they aren’t given an education or rights like men do in that era.
Also it wasn’t that many chapters ago where she just learned how to read and write, so with someone that was isolated most of their life, lacked basic education and was waited on by servants; of course she’s not going to be as smart as someone from our era.
She emotionally, socially and educationally stunted from a young age as well so it makes sense that she acts out without taking into account the possible consequences
