I think in this story it's actually comforting to know we can and should feel angry and/or disgruntled about Helena since the story that we as the audience are reading is about the soul inside of Elise and not the story that the re-incarnator/soul read where the world loves Helena and so it's not like Helena is missing out on ,uch without our love lol
Plus Helena vaguely knows that her terrible upbringing is in a sense wrong and that she's in an odd situation of do or be damned and finding out there's more punishments for those around her if she doesn't obey may have burnt her will to rebel.
I don't know but I can't get myself to like Helena. For some reason, I'm so wary of her and I actually feel a bit mad when she shows up and acts kind. Maybe because most of the "kind" characters in these kind of stories that I finished are rotten btches. Yes they showed her side to us but I still feel irritated towards her and the fact that she stayed quiet when our FL got slapped because of her made it worse. That's it. I just don't like her (〜￣△￣)〜
