probably mistranslation? its not like the mc identifies as anything other than male.

I figured and that's why I was a little confused. I just didn't know which part was a mistranslation.

“Genderless” is a fashion trend in Japan I can’t explain it well but the word they use translates to genderless. If you look up genderless Japan fashion or something I’m sure you’ll find somewhere that explains it better lol
